“Together, we can make Vancouver a less bedazzled city, one douchebag at a time”
“I sometimes have the tendency to come off as blunt”. This is what Lily Nguyen, the blogger behind Vancouver’s “Bleed For Fashion” told PULP during our initial correspondence. We love her for being one of the most creative bloggers in Canada, and well - for being blunt.

“Bleed for Fashion” - can you tell us a little about the title of your blog?
1. I was watching an episode of Project Runway and Michael Kors had mentioned something about women who’d bleed for fashion and it stuck in my head. Plus my mantra at the time was fashion over comfort so it seemed fitting. Even today, I still believe a little bit of blood never hurt anybody.
How long have you had the blog and what inspired you to start it?
2. Inspired by other fashion bloggers, I started “Bleed for Fashion” in 2009 but have been blogging since 2002 at the age of 14.
How has blogging changed fashion journalism in your opinion?
3. Blogging has clearly given readers a much wider range of news sources to choose from. I personally think it’s great that readers, like myself, are no longer confined to getting their news from a handful of outlets.
What is the future of blogging, in your opinion?
4. As long as there’s Internet access and a Web browser, I believe blogging is here to stay.

Are you looking to explore new ways to reach your audience? If so, how?
5. No. I already reach/correspond with my readers using my blog, Twitter, Facebook and email. What more is there (aside from maybe in person)?
When it comes to personal style posts, where do you gather outfit inspirations?
6. I gather outfit inspirations from my friends, co-workers, strangers, etc. Then I try to make it my own.
What can you say about Vancouver street style?
8. The fashion scene here in Vancouver is a work in progress. People here need to learn how to have more fun with clothes, keep the Uggs at home (or better yet, throw them out!) and stay far away from Christian Audigier/Ed Hardy. Together, I believe we can make Vancouver a less bedazzled city, one douchebag at a time.
How would you describe your own style?
9. Edge/luxe/casual, or so I’ve been told.

You share personal revelations and observations on your blog , what kind of effect does that have on your readers?
10. It has had a positive effect on my readers (at least I hope so!). I think the fact I am so open and revealing on my blog has helped separate me from the masses.
We would have a hard time answering this ourselves, but who is your favourite designer and why?
11. Haider Ackermann because he makes chic and edgy clothing with ease; sexy without trying; formal without pretension.
You have a diploma in fashion merchandising - what are your current and future aspirations, career-wise?
12. Despite studying Fashion Merchandising, my dreams and aspirations no longer have anything to do with fashion. Ideally, I’d love to continue to do humanitarian work in the developing world—I recently went to Nepal for 4 weeks for a volunteer quest and it completely changed my life.
